Job Title Systems & Network Administrator – Hancock County 911 & County Government Job Description Hancock County is seeking a Systems & Network Administrator to support technology operations for both the Hancock County 911 Center and Hancock County government offices, including the Courthouse, Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Magistrate Court, Animal Shelter, and other county facilities. This is a full-time position reporting to the Hancock County 911/Emergency Management Director. This position plays a critical role in keeping Hancock County’s public safety and government systems secure, reliable, and connected. The position is split 50% supporting 911 IT systems (such as servers, networks, Computer-Aided Dispatch, GIS, radio/telecom, security, and other public safety technologies) and 50% supporting county IT systems (such as servers, networks, phone systems, access control, security cameras, and end-user support across offices). The administrator will be responsible for keeping critical systems running, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing hands-on support to staff across departments. Key Responsibilities · Manage and maintain servers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, group policy, and county/911 networks. · Support and troubleshoot phone systems (VoIP), access control, security cameras, and other building systems. · Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, software licensing, and plan for hardware/software replacement cycles. · Document network setups, server configurations, and system procedures. · Ensure cybersecurity standards are met, including CJIS compliance. · Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to meet state, federal, and CJIS requirements. · Coordinate backups, redundancy, and disaster recovery planning for critical systems. · Provide technical support to staff in county offices and at the 911 center. · Lead and assist with IT projects such as server upgrades, system rollouts, and new software deployments. · Provide technical support for county websites and online platforms. · Work with vendors and service providers to resolve issues or complete projects. · Support continuity of operations planning for IT systems and other technology needs as directed. · Perform other IT duties as assigned by the Hancock County 911/Emergency Management Director. Qualifications · Solid, hands-on experience with IT systems and networks. · Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, group policy, and networking basics. · Experience with firewalls, switches, and system security. · Familiarity with VoIP phone systems, access control, and security cameras. · Strong troubleshooting skills - able to handle everything from password resets to server outages. · Able to work independently, handle multiple projects, and keep organized records. · Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly. Helpful but not required: · Experience with 911 dispatch systems (CAD), GIS, or other public safety software. · Knowledge of CJIS requirements. · IT certifications (CompTIA, CCNA, Microsoft, etc.). Pay & Benefits · Salary range: $55,000 – $65,000 (depending on experience). · Full county benefits include health insurance, retirement, and paid leave. Work Environment · Full-time, on-site position, M – F 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, serving both 911 and county government offices. · Work includes office settings, server/network rooms, and occasional trips to other county facilities. · The ability to lift or move equipment up to 50 lbs. may be required. · After-hours, weekend, or on-call support may be required during emergencies or system outages.
