We are seeking an Application Administrator to join a small team of IT professionals supporting our client at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Frederick. The Application Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, patching, configuring, and managing all aspects of assigned software systems. These systems are typically Commercial Off-The Shelf (COTS) products hosted in our data center or in the cloud. The position helps to fill the gap between non-technical system owners and the requirements for running approved systems in a well-defined IT environment. Click here to see BRMi's Glassdoor reviews Responsibilities • Interface with vendors, clients, and internal IT teams for application installation, configuration, maintenance, and support. • Perform application installations, regularly scheduled patching, and troubleshooting to resolve incident tickets for assigned systems. • Collaborate with security, systems, network, DBA, and other technical teams to ensure proper integration of environments. • Lead and participate in efforts to develop and implement standard processes for application and system monitoring. • Create and maintain technical documentation including system architecture, application infrastructure, and operational procedures. • Follow change control and testing processes for modifications to applications. • Lead and participate in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches, and new releases. • Plan, coordinate, test, and communicate changes, upgrades/maintenance schedules, and new services to ensure systems will operate correctly in current and future environments. • Manage administrator and service accounts (create, change, and delete) and permissions and access rights in accordance with best practices regarding privacy and security. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or IT related field. • Minimum of three (3) years of similar work experience. • Experience using Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Active Directory (AD), Linux OS, and Windows Server. • Experience using VMWare products for remote management of servers, Putty, sFTP, Relational Databases, and Web Servers such as Apache and/or IIS. • Knowledge of Agile tools such as Azure DevOps Boards, Atlassian Jira, Atlassian Confluence, and ticket management systems such as ServiceNow. • Knowledge of SAML, MFA, and authentication mechanisms implemented by software applications. • Systems administrator experience. • IT support experience. • Experience administrating systems and accounts according to IT security guidelines. • Ability to perform diagnostic testing and in-depth troubleshooting. • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams. • Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team. • Demonstrates ability to take the initiative on developing creative and innovative methods to achieve program goals. • Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. • Performs effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. • Ability to work outside of normal business hours for production system support a couple times per month. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. • * BRMi will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.** • *This is a W2 opportunity only** EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and commitment at all levels.
