Our client, a leader in the travel & hospitality industry, is seeking an intermediate Database Administrator with strong MySQL expertise to provide hands-on support for their growing data environment. This is a production-facing role focused on ensuring database performance, availability, and security with an emphasis on MySQL encryption across mission-critical systems. Responsibilities • Support daily DBA operations including monitoring, backups, restores, and troubleshooting. • Manage and maintain MySQL environments as the primary responsibility, with secondary support of Microsoft SQL Server. • Implement and support HA/DR solutions (MySQL replication, clustering, Always On, log shipping). • Apply and enforce MySQL encryption standards (table-level encryption required), alongside SQL Server encryption (TDE, Always Encrypted) as needed. • Handle transactional jobs, service tickets, and change requests in production. • Partner with developers and application admins to optimize MySQL code, queries, and deployments. • Participate in data migrations and assist with warehouse/reporting workloads. • Contribute to database security, compliance, and performance tuning efforts. Requirements • 4+ years of hands-on DBA experience in production environments. • Strong expertise in MySQL administration (hard requirement), including replication, tuning, and encryption. • Experience with SQL Server (2016–2019+) in a supporting capacity. • Proven knowledge of HA/DR in MySQL (replication, clustering, failover) and SQL Server (Always On, log shipping). • Proficiency with MySQL encryption (table-level, column-level, or transparent data encryption) and SQL Server encryption methods. • Solid background in backups, recovery strategies, and monitoring tools. • Strong query tuning and optimization skills, especially in MySQL. • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability in high-availability environments. Nice to Have • Exposure to NoSQL technologies (Couchbase preferred). • Familiarity with BI/reporting (SSRS, ETL workflows). • Prior work in travel, hospitality, or consumer-facing industries.
