The Data Strategist Intern at City Colleges of Chicago will support initiatives focused on understanding the economic mobility of students through data analysis. This role involves analyzing labor market trends and post-graduation outcomes to inform strategic recommendations.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE As part of the District Office Decision Support Team and reporting to an assigned administrator, the Data Strategist Intern will support CCC's projects on Economic Mobility. These initiatives aim to understand how a CCC education impacts students' long-term economic outcomes. Responsibilities include analyzing post-graduation wage and employment data from the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), reviewing data from the Graduate Follow-up Survey, and conducting secondary research on labor market trends. Performs other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Conducts strategic data analyses, identifies insights and implications from institutional quantitative data including survey data and administrative data, and makes strategic recommendations to executive and senior staff. Develops clear and accessible charts and visuals for executive briefings and presentations. Contributes to slide decks and memos summarizing key findings for funders and senior leadership. Conducts literature reviews and landscape scans on workforce development, labor market trends, and related policy areas. Identifies how CCC outcomes align with broader industry trends and regional economic shifts. Conducts secondary research on labor market data and macro-level industry trends as needed Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards. Performs other duties as assigned. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To Assigned Administrator Direct Supervision None QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Currently enrolled as a graduate student in Public Policy, Economics, Education, Sociology, Data Science, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in quantitative data cleaning and analysis, particularly using survey data. Proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical software tool (e.g., R, Python, Stata, or SQL). Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI or similar platforms preferred Familiarity with labor market data, wage datasets, or workforce development metrics preferred. Strong interest in equity-focused policy research, economic mobility, or higher education preferred Strong written communication skills with experience translating data into insights for decision-making. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and handle confidential data responsibly. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Salary $20 - $35 per hour Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
