Job Description We’re seeking an experienced Power BI Visualization Lead to join a team supporting a major northeast utility enterprise. In this role, you’ll serve as the primary architect and strategist for developing advanced business intelligence and reporting solutions that drive operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—operations, IT, finance, and regulatory groups—to define reporting needs, design scalable Power BI models, and deliver impactful dashboards that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. The ideal candidate is a hands-on BI leader passionate about data storytelling, performance metrics, and empowering decision-making through analytics. Duties and Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise Power BI dashboards supporting asset performance, outage management, AMI analytics, and regulatory reporting. • Partner with business stakeholders to translate data requirements into effective reporting and visualization solutions. • Develop optimized Power BI data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations ensuring accuracy and scalability. • Integrate Power BI with enterprise systems such as Maximo, ADMS/OMS, GIS, CIS, and data lakes. • Establish visualization standards, governance frameworks, and dashboard version control. • Automate recurring reports and dashboards to improve delivery efficiency and reliability. • Mentor junior developers, fostering data literacy and self-service analytics. • Present high-value insights to executives and business leaders to guide strategy and performance decisions. • Stay current with Power BI feature releases and analytics best practices within the utilities sector. Required Experience/Skills • 9+ years in business intelligence, analytics, or data visualization roles. • 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Microsoft Power BI. • Proven expertise in SQL, DAX, and data modeling. • Strong understanding of data warehousing and relational database principles. • Demonstrated success collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams. • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Nice-to-Haves • Prior experience in the utilities industry (electric, gas, or water). • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as Maximo, GIS (ESRI, GE Smallworld), ADMS/OMS, CIS, and SCADA. • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) or equivalent certification. • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Microsoft Fabric. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
