Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $77,380 - $81,298 Hiring Salary: Commensurate with Experience About This Opportunity: Performs difficult skilled technical work serving as systems administrator for various systems, assisting with the development, implementation and management of systems, managing networks and communications, providing technical support, working with staff to determine technology needs and providing solutions, and related work as apparent or assigned. Essential Functions: • Manages servers and applications used by all City departments. • Manages network infrastructure including DHCP, DNS, VLANS, IP routers and Wi-Fi. • Installs and configures mobile devices, computer equipment and workstations. • Manages Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy settings. • Manages, configures, and monitors Citrix, XenDesktop and XenApp environment. • Manages Virtualized server, application, and workstation environments and unattended deployments. • Schedules and performs maintenance during off-hours. • Manages Fiber channel SAN equipment and provisioned storage for servers in data center. • Configures and maintains networking equipment. • Troubleshoots and resolves network, server, and application outages. • Provides end-user support via telephone, remote desktop management and on-site visits. • Configures, schedules, and monitors back-up solutions for physical and virtual machines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Thorough knowledge of computer systems hardware and software maintenance, troubleshooting and networking. • Thorough knowledge of industry best practices. • Thorough knowledge in preparing reports. • Thorough knowledge of systems design, analysis, hardware maintenance, networking and computer operations. • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software associated (e.g. Active Directory, DNS, HDCP, Group Policy, SQL, Oracle, ODBC Connections, etc.) with the operation of a local area network. • Thorough knowledge of basic and virtual machine security. • Ability to perform basic software coding. • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve problems. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and consultants. • Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of City and Department policies and procedures. • Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of the City’s hardware and network environment. • Ability to make arithmetic computations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages. Education and Experience Associates/Technical degree with coursework in computer science, or related field and considerable experience in systems administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
