This position ensures the stability, scalability, and efficiency of the enterprise systems and infrastructure that power CARTS’ statewide traffic safety mission. This position bridges development and operations by managing system deployments, automating workflows, monitoring environments, and supporting both on-premise and cloud-based resources. The role supports continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, infrastructure automation, and secure systems administration, while collaborating with developers, system administrators, and stakeholders to deliver reliable IT services to law enforcement, state agencies and the public. About CARTS The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) at Louisiana State University is funded by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) to collect, improve, maintain, and analyze traffic-related data across the state. CARTS oversees the eCRASH program, manages the state’s official traffic records data warehouse, and develops data-driven tools, maps, and reports that support safer roads in Louisiana. The center is organized into five sections: Business Intelligence/Data Analytics, Data Quality, Geographic Information Systems, Information Technology, and System Support. Together, these groups ensure traffic safety data is accurate, timely, and accessible for stakeholders and policymakers. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 50% - DevOps Practices & Automation Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application deployment. Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Develop and maintain system and process documentation. Ensure compliance with IT policies Work with development teams to integrate applications with infrastructure. Provide technical support for critical issues, including on-call rotation when necessary. 40% - System Administration & Infrastructure Management Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows, Linux, Hyper-V) and storage systems. Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high system availability. Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies. Automate provisioning, scaling, and monitoring of cloud resources. Manage virtualization platform Hyper-V with a focus on efficiency and security. 10% -Other duties as assigned. Experience with Version Control software (Github, Azure Repos, BitBucket) Experience deploying applications to testing and production environments and a good understanding of the general software deployment process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education Level: Bachelor's degree Years of Experience: 2-4 years Specific Experience: in addition to minimum qualifications, experience with enterprise backup and recovery (e.g., VEEAM).
