THE OPPORTUNITY The Infrastructure Operations Team is a globally distributed group responsible for managing Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure and supporting Windows and Linux workloads across North American datacenters and edge locations. Operating 24/7 with members in Sri Lanka and Costa Rica, the team ensures high availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise systems in Sysco’s Private Cloud. Key responsibilities include managing virtualization platforms, optimizing Linux and Windows servers, and maintaining global security compliance through patch management. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer / Engineer - Infrastructure to join our Infrastructure Operations team. The role involves supporting, optimizing, and securing Windows systems, contributing to global OS patch management efforts, managing and supporting the Nutanix virtualization platform, and collaborating with a globally distributed team in a 24x7 operational environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development (Web applications) who is also willing to learn and support other areas of Private Cloud infrastructure operations. This role will involve a balanced mix of software development and operational support, with 60% of the responsibilities dedicated to developing and maintaining web applications (web tools developed to manage infrastructure and other operational aspects within the Infrastructure Operations team), and the other 40% focused on infrastructure and operational management. Strong foundation in Java, Spring Boot, React JS, and MySQL, along with experience in cloud platforms like AWS or Azure (for deploying and maintaining internal applications) is required and knowledge with Linux, Windows or virtual technologies will be an added advantage. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintaining and enhancing existing web applications developed using Java, Spring Boot, React JS, and MySQL (Applications and tools used by the Infrastructure Operations team for internal use) Developing new internal tools and applications based on team/project requirements (Developing applications and tools for the Infrastructure Operations team for internal use) Integrating APIs and managing MySQL database interactions Deploying, configuring, and maintaining applications in cloud environments like AWS and Azure Preparing and updating technical documentation for applications, infrastructure, and SOPs Assisting in incident response and escalating critical issues when required Assisting in monthly server patching for security updates and bug fixes Supporting and optimizing Private Cloud virtualization platforms, including deployments and troubleshooting REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with for Engineer level: 1-2 Years and for Senior Engineer level: 2 - 4 years of experience Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React JS, MySQL, and API development A strong understanding of front-end and back-end development within web applications Experience in version control using GIT and GitHub Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms like AWS and Azure A thorough understanding of Linux or Windows OS, including scripting and basic administration Familiarity with virtualized environments, especially Nutanix and VMware will be beneficial Experience with IT service management (ServiceNow), and handling incident and change tickets will be beneficial Proficiency in creating and updating technical documentation for development and infrastructure processes Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes will be beneficial Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural team setting BENEFITS Performance-based annual bonus Performance rewards and recognition Agile Benefits - special allowances for Health, Wellness & Academic purposes Paid birthday leave Comprehensive Health & Life Insurance Cover - extendable to parents and in-laws Overseas travel opportunities and exposure to client environments #J-18808-Ljbffr Sysco Corporation (nyse:syy)
