Job Title: PostgreSQL Database Administrator Location: St. Louis, MO Experience Required: 8+ Years Job Summary We are seeking a seasoned PostgreSQL Database Administrator with strong experience in managing PostgreSQL environments hosted on AWS. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, high availability, and automation. This role supports agile development teams and mission-critical production systems. Key Responsibilities • Administer and maintain PostgreSQL databases on Linux/Unix platforms hosted on AWS • Design, install, patch, and enhance PostgreSQL RDBMS infrastructure • Perform performance tuning, replication setup, and data warehousing optimization • Manage PostgreSQL indexing, schema design, and user roles/security permissions • Develop stored procedures, queries, triggers, and views using SQL scripting languages • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness • Collaborate with development teams to support agile workflows • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues efficiently • Utilize automation and configuration management tools for database operations • Work across Windows/Linux environments and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) Must-Have Skills • 8+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL on Linux/Unix • Strong expertise in AWS-hosted PostgreSQL environments • Performance tuning, replication, and data warehousing experience • PostgreSQL index management and schema handling • SQL scripting for stored procedures, triggers, and views • High availability and failover strategies • Familiarity with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) • Experience with database security and user role management • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of DB issues • Comfortable working in agile development environments Good-to-Have Knowledge • Linux administration and security hardening • Broader AWS ecosystem knowledge (e.g., EC2, RDS, IAM) • Experience with data modeling tools
