Title: Senior IT & Network Support Specialist – Houston, TX (On-Site) About the Opportunity Our client is a well-established and growing company in the greater Houston area, operating in a fast-moving, highly regulated industry where technology plays a mission-critical role. They’re building an internal IT capability for the first time and looking for the right person to take the lead. This is a unique ground-floor opportunity — you’ll be the first in-house IT hire, with a mandate to take ownership of systems, networks, and support. Over time, you’ll help transition responsibilities away from the external managed services provider (MSP) and into a streamlined, internal operation. The Role We’re seeking a Senior IT & Network Support Specialist who can combine technical expertise with initiative, independence, and problem-solving skills. You’ll manage network performance, provide advanced user support, and build processes and systems that will serve the company for years to come. What You’ll Do • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, and wireless access equipment • Oversee network performance, apply optimizations, and ensure robust security practices • Work with core networking services such as addressing schemes, VLAN configuration, name resolution, and automated IP assignment • Provide advanced support for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices in mixed operating system environments (Windows/macOS) • Assist with device lifecycle management, onboarding/offboarding, and account provisioning • Maintain thorough documentation for configurations, assets, and procedures • Lead infrastructure improvements, migrations, and project-based initiatives • Collaborate with leadership to gradually reduce MSP dependency What We’re Looking For • Several years of experience in IT support with a concentration on networking and infrastructure • Hands-on experience with business-class wireless systems (e.g., Aruba, Cisco Meraki or similar platforms) • Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, DNS, TCP/IP, and DHCP • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration • Strong diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently while building a new IT function Preferred Certifications • CompTIA Network+ or Security+ • Cisco CCNA or equivalent Why This Role Stands Out • Build something new: be the first in-house IT hire and shape the function to your standards • Influence & autonomy: work directly with leadership and make key technology decisions • Career growth: opportunity to expand your role as the IT department grows • Stability: join a long-standing, financially strong organization with a positive culture Do not apply unless you are authorized to work in the United States for any employer as client company cannot sponsor or transfer visas at this time.
