Job Title: Senior SQL Database Administrator Employment Type: Full-Time with Benefits Work Authorization: US Citizen Security Clearance: Security clearance is required for this role; candidates must meet eligibility criteria Work Mode: (On-Site presence in Office) Place of Performance: Washington, DC Job Summary: • The Senior SQL Database Administrator will provide expert-level support for enterprise SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments. The role includes database administration, optimization, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the operational integrity of mission-critical database systems that support business and printing operations. Responsibilities: • Administer SQL Server and Cluster Environments: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server and SQL Cluster databases to ensure continuous availability and performance stability. • Database Support and Troubleshooting: Respond to database incidents, service requests, and FootPrints tickets; provide root cause analysis and corrective actions. • Database Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, backups, patching, and software upgrades according to GPO’s IT security policies. • Performance Optimization: Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to ensure efficient database operations. • Change and Request Management: Support RFCs for database changes, configuration updates, and maintenance tasks. • User and Application Support: Assist users and application teams with database creation, permission setup, and connection configurations. • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and deliver weekly support reports detailing activities, resolutions, and system status for COR review. Experience Required: ​​ • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience as a SQL Database Administrator in enterprise-level or federal environments. • Proven expertise in SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. • Experience supporting MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MS Access, and MySQL environments. • Demonstrated ability to manage performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and backup/recovery operations. • Experience assisting users with database creation, configuration, and application integration (e.g., SharePoint, GBIS). • Strong experience responding to Requests for Change (RFCs), FootPrints tickets, and maintenance-related issues. • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex SQL Cluster and system configuration issues. • Demonstrated professionalism and attention to detail in documenting and communicating technical procedures and resolutions. Preferred Skills: • Experience working in federal or large enterprise database environments. • Knowledge of GPO systems and applications such as GBIS and FootPrints. • Strong collaboration skills for supporting development and operations teams • Proficiency with monitoring tools and automation scripts (PowerShell, SQL Agent jobs). • Excellent communication skills and ability to support after-hours maintenance as required. Educational Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline. Relevant Certification (Preferred): • Microsoft SQL Server DBA or equivalent professional-level certification.
