Position Title: Server Administration Specialist Location: Local to Washington DC with 1-2 days a week onsite. Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active DHS Public Trust Employment Type: Full-Time Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Server Administration Specialist with an active DHS clearance to support and maintain secure IT environments within DHS systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in server administration, hands-on experience with DHS Cloud environments, and working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of ensuring system reliability, scalability, and compliance in a mission-critical environment. Key Responsibilities: • Manage, configure, and monitor Windows and Linux servers across DHS AWS Cloud environments. • Install, configure, and maintain commercial off-the-shelf software applications in DHS AWS Cloud environments. • Administer and maintain DHS Cloud infrastructure in alignment with security, compliance, and operational requirements. • Implement security hardening, patching, and monitoring to maintain system integrity and meet federal standards. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex server and cloud infrastructure issues. • Support system upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization efforts. • Interact with and extract data through APIs, and configure API connections, especially Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) • Design and manipulate database queries using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostrgreSQL and other database technologies • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, network engineering, and application development. • Maintain detailed system documentation, change records, and operational procedures. • Assist in disaster recovery planning, backup management, and continuity of operations. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related discipline. • 5+ years of experience in server administration (Windows and/or Linux). • Hands-on experience with the DHS Cloud environments. • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.). • Strong knowledge of virtualization, storage, and networking fundamentals. • Experience building, testing, and deploying applications using automation tools such as Jenkins. • Proficiency developing applications in Java and Groovy • Experience using YAML for application configuration files • Strong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or CompTIA Security+. • Experience with federal IT compliance frameworks (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST). • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). • Prior experience supporting mission-critical federal or law enforcement environments.
