Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the System Administrator is responsible for the administration of critical infrastructure systems, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. The System Administrator ensures the smooth day to day operation of the existing infrastructure. This role with work alongside members of the Infrastructure and Helpdesk teams with a goal of maximum reliability while maintaining system integrity. Responsibilities: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of infrastructure systems across multiple sites Administer and support Windows Servers across a physical and virtual (VMware) environment Configures and installs systems such that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational hardware and software standards Contributes to the development and maintenance installation and configuration procedures for systems, user access administration and ensures system security based on established procedures and industry best practices Contributes with project teams on technical issues and assists with the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; provides technical analysis and design recommendations; and supports operations staff in executing, testing, and implementing solutions Perform server administration tasks, including Active Directory user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, printing services and resource monitoring Administer the O365 environment including troubleshooting, implementing new features and managing end to end Exchange mail flow, archiving, retention and spam prevention Serve as an escalation point for L3 tickets from the end user support team; assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause and provide technical support Administer the patch management and application deployment solution for servers and desktops; maintain established application packaging and OS patching standards Monitor datacenter health daily using existing management tools and respond to hardware, software and environmental issues as they arise Create PowerShell scripts for automation of operational processes across both the server and desktop environments Maintains documentation related to design and implementation best practices Monitor server backups daily, alerting the Infrastructure Engineering team of any issues Performing and testing of routine system backups and restores Proactively identify improvements for existing IT systems and infrastructure Monitor antivirus system daily, alerting the security team of any issues Keep up to date on current technologies, industry news, standards and industry trends Systems changes outside of business hours or after-hours support may be required Collaborates with other departments for standards and practices Participates in technical research and recommends innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks within the infrastructure. Identifies approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale Performs periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning Be able to perform any additional IT tasks deemed necessary by management Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) preferred 5 years proven hands on system administration experience providing monitoring, maintenance and administration of technology infrastructure required This is a remote position with the expectation to reside 2 hours from our NYC office for when business needs require and/or emergency purposes. Compensation Information: Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings.
