Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Principal Information Security Engineer to bolster their security infrastructure and protect sensitive data in Jacksonville, Florida, US . This senior-level position demands a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and defensive strategies. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing advanced security solutions to safeguard the company's digital assets against a wide array of cyber threats. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional analytical skills, and a proven ability to lead security initiatives. Responsibilities include developing and enforcing security policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments and penetration testing, architecting secure network and system designs, implementing and managing security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection), and responding to security incidents. This role requires expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), application security, vulnerability management, and incident response. You will be instrumental in staying ahead of emerging threats, researching new security technologies, and providing strategic guidance to the security team and broader IT organization. The Principal Information Security Engineer will also mentor junior security staff, contribute to security awareness training, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. A proactive approach to threat hunting and a commitment to continuous improvement of the security posture are essential. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on engineering and architecture. Extensive knowledge of network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP), application security, and data protection. Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint detection and response (EDR). Expertise in threat modeling, risk assessment, and incident response methodologies. Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP are highly desirable. Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA). Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
