Our client is looking for a highly analytical and innovative Senior Automotive Data Scientist to join their growing team in **Virginia Beach, Virginia, US**. This role will play a critical part in leveraging vast datasets to drive insights and innovation across all aspects of automotive product development, manufacturing, and customer experience. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated machine learning models and analytical solutions that tackle complex challenges, from predictive maintenance and quality control to optimizing supply chain logistics and enhancing in-vehicle user experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of statistical modeling, machine learning expertise, and a deep understanding of automotive industry data. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, engineering, product management, and marketing to translate business needs into data-driven strategies. Responsibilities: Develop and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models for automotive applications (e.g., anomaly detection, predictive analytics, forecasting, optimization). Analyze large, complex datasets from various sources including vehicle telematics, manufacturing processes, customer feedback, and market trends. Design and execute A/B tests and other experimental designs to validate model performance and business impact. Collaborate with software engineers to deploy models into production environments and integrate them into existing systems. Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and reports. Identify opportunities to improve data quality, data collection processes, and analytical methodologies. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to building a data-centric culture within the organization. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and automotive technology. Contribute to the strategic roadmap for data science initiatives within the automotive division. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical data usage practices. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of experience in data science, with a significant portion focused on the automotive industry or related fields. Proficiency in Python or R, including relevant libraries for data manipulation, statistical modeling, and machine learning (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and SQL. Proven ability to translate business problems into data science solutions. Strong understanding of various machine learning techniques, model evaluation, and deployment strategies. Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. Familiarity with automotive data sources (CAN bus, diagnostics, infotainment) is highly desirable.
