Summary Description/Purpose of this position The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the stability, security, monitoring and performance of the database platform. Serves as lead and technical point of contact for customers and associated members of the Engineering and Development team. Responsibilities/Duties of this position • Support engineering and development team in planning work activities. • Prioritize work schedules to meet or exceed project timelines and objectives. • Conduct hands on engineering activities across Microsoft database technologies and multiple system administration technologies. • Provide and/or support the development of technical documentation related to any support, training and transitioning. • Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills, while working effectively with customers and Engineering/Development team members. Qualification Requirements for this position • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development or 60 months (about 5 years) hands-on experience. • 10+ years of work experience in Database Development, Administration & Support in MS SQL Server environment. • Certifications: Experience with SQL and Virtual DB environments. Key Skills/Competencies for this position • Capable of writing TSQL statements, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views. • Can install/configure SSRS and produce reports as required. • Knowledge of SQL Server setup, configuration, and patching. • Familiarity with Windows clustering and HA concepts. • Database backup and recovery using SSMS or 3rd party tools (Lightspeed, Datto). • Troubleshoot database related issues using common or 3rd party tools (Spotlight). • Ability to use database tools and utilities (Redgate SQL Structure & Data Compare). • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) – Development & Administration. • Experience with tape backup strategies. • Knowledge of security concepts and best practices. • Able to troubleshoot networking issues. • Competent in disaster recovery scenarios. • Able to assist Engineers during server maintenance. • Patching SharePoint 2013/2016 environments. • Data Modelling & Data Standards. • Database Administration & Development. • Datawarehouse design and modelling. • Performance Tuning. • Data migration across different database technologies. • Root Cause Analysis. • Technology Governance. Physical/Environmental Demands for this position, when such demands exist. • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time depending on workload and/or emergencies.
