The Desktop Support Engineer role includes day-to-day desktop support, user support, patch management, system administration and maintenance. Experience: Three (3) years of experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop support, data security, system administration, server administration, or network support to end users. Acceptable Substitution: Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to two years of the education requirement. Licenses or Certificates: • Possession of a valid California Driver's License. • Possess an industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise; Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate; Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate; Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification – Professional; OR an equivalent professional, industry recognized certification acceptable to the city. Desirable Certifications: Azure Administrator Associate Certification Candidates who don't currently hold a certification must obtain an industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as any of the above certifications or an equivalent professional, industry recognized certification acceptable to the city within six (6) months of hire.
