SUPERVISORY DUTIES : None SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking SQL DBA/Azure Data Engineer to manage and optimize our data environment as we transition from limited on-premises SQL Server infrastructure to a modern cloud-native architecture using Azure SQL and Microsoft Fabric ( OneLake ) . This role combines traditional DBA responsibilities with cloud data platform expertise . The Database Administrator will be part of the Data Services team, which is accountable for delivering and managing data solutions to assist enterprise application systems and core infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who can exhibit forward systems thinking and a passion for producing world-class technology. The role will require the understanding of enterprise architecture from end-to-end. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: On-Premise SQL: • Maintain, monitor , and optimize the performance of a small footprint of existing SQL Server s and databases • Perform backup, recovery, patching, and routine maintenance for SQL instances • Proactively monitor database performance using native and other tools ( Redgate, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs) and recommend tuning strategies. • Manage SQL Agent jobs • SSIS ETL package creation, administration and debugging • Implement and enforce database security, including authentication, authorization, and auditing. • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving production issues, blocking/deadlocks, and failed jobs. • Troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues and resolve operational incidents. Microsoft Fabric & Azure SQL: • D esign, implement, and manag e Azure SQL d atabases, m anaged i nstances, and Fabric and Azure d ata l ake s • Design, implement and maintain scalable data warehousing infrastructure in Azure environments • Design, Implement and maintain Azure Pipelines and Power BI Pipelines • Familiarity with CI/CD processes • Support and help govern data lake storage in Microsoft Fabric Onelake , ensuring appropriate data quality, partitioning, and lifecycle management • Monitor performance, security, and cost for Azure SQL and Fabric services using tools such as Azure Monitor, Monitoring Hub, Fabric Capacity Metrics, Log Analytics, and SQL Insights. • Enforce policies and best practices for data security, privacy, access controls, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2) • Work with stakeholders to ensure metadata documentation, lineage tracking, data catalog , and data inventories are completed and maintained OTHER DUTIES: • Solution-driven mindset, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people • Must be able to perform root cause analysis and solve complex problems. • Assist in the development and execution of a company-wide data strategy • Manage projects/tasks to meet expected deadlines and deliverables • Provide consistent and timely feedback to management and impacted users of projects/tasks progress • Practice continuous improvement and m ake recommendations to implement approved design changes. • Identify , develop and implement custom scripts or tools to enhance automation • Off hours availability required for on call and planned maintenance procedures • Other duties as assigned TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Demonstrated experience performing daily administration of MS SQL systems • Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL , Fabric( Onelake ) or other equivalent cloud hosted database/ datalake systems • Experience with Data Modeling (Dimensional and Medallion architectures) • Experience in CI/CD environments and DevOps best practices • Experience with Azure Pipelines • Experience with Power BI REST API and deployment pipelines • Familiarity with data modeling tools (ERD) • Familiarity with Powershell scripting OTHER SKILLS: • Strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external clients • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or committee , as well as independently • Ability t o organize and prioritize multiple work streams • Excellent spoken and written communication skills • Strong problem solving and decision making skills • Detail oriented and methodical • Good time manage ment and organizational skills • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and an adaptability to change MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associate s Degree with 2 additional years of experience • 5 + years’ experience in a similar role • Technical Certifications are a plus such as: • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer (preferred) What do I do now? • Apply with us! • Refer this opening to others!
