Overview Primefocus Health is a seed-stage healthtech startup headquartered in San Francisco, launched as a venture spinout from LG Electronics' North America Innovation Center (LG NOVA). We are building an innovative platform that enables healthcare providers to deliver personalized, scalable remote care for chronic condition management. Our mission is to reimagine how healthcare is delivered—with an emphasis on improving access in underserved and rural communities. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of our web-based platform, working across both front-end and back-end technologies. You will play a key role in building secure, performant solutions used by hospitals, providers, and patients nationwide. This is a full-time hybrid role based in West Virginia, with regular collaboration across distributed teams. Work Setting This is an onsite role based in our San Francisco headquarters. Team members will work in close collaboration with product, engineering, and design colleagues across multiple time zones. Occasional travel (up to 15%) may be required for offsites, clinical partner meetings, or company events. The environment is dynamic and mission-driven, with an emphasis on ownership, quality, and impact. Responsibilities • Design and develop scalable front-end and back-end systems for our healthcare platform • Lead technical architecture discussions and establish engineering best practices • Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and QA • Optimize application performance, security, and accessibility • Build and maintain APIs, services, and databases • Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and roadmap alignment • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations • Participate in on-call rotation and support production systems • Document system designs and contribute to knowledge sharing Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, and 5+ years of professional software development experience • Strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies such as React, Node.js, Python, and Java, with demonstrated experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs • Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as CI/CD tools and version control systems like Git • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and knowledge of software architecture and system design patterns • Solid understanding of secure coding practices, testing frameworks, and working in Agile startup environments Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in healthcare or digital health • Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams • Background in performance tuning, DevOps, or security • Exposure to microservices and event-driven architectures Compensation Compensation for this role is expected to fall within the range of $130,000 - 190,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and alignment with the role's responsibilities.
