The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Support Services Team Leader to oversee unit staff and manage day-to-day operations within the Harris County Inspire program. This role requires a strong background in human services and experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Support Services Team Leader to join our team for the Harris County Inspire program. Under the general supervision of the Program Director of ID Network Development and Management, this position is responsible for the supervision of unit staff and oversight of day-to-day activities of the unit staff. The Support Services Team Leader acts as a backup to the units Program Director. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Your role in action: • Performs administrative duties as relates to the management of Service Coordination teams and effective delivery of services. • Monitors Service Coordination activities through available information systems to ensure that production measures are met. • Performs reviews of plans and documents submitted by Service Coordinators to ensure compliance with state requirements. • Communicates with Program Director and/or other team members to resolve problems and make recommendations regarding the provision of services and team operations • Provides assistance to staff and provides training as it relates to departmental standards and/or changes • Communicates identified staff issues and recommended plan of action to Program Director. • Manages team caseload, facilitating the assignment of cases and ensuring discharges are appropriately handled • Attends required unit, departmental and divisional meetings & functions. • Adhere to The Harris Center’s and Unit Policy and Procedures • Performs other duties as assigned. What qualifications you will need: Education: • Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.B.A., B.S., B.F.A.) from four-year college or university in a human services field. Experience: • Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience in the human service field. Two (2) years' experience working with persons with intellectual/developmental disability preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Most possess knowledge of intellectual/developmental disability and the aspect of the condition as it relates to the population served. • Must possess effective written, verbal communication, and organizational skills. • Must be able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. • Effectively communicates and works with individuals, family members, visitors and fellow employees in a manner that demonstrates knowledge of cultural diversities. • Must be knowledgeable and have sufficient understanding of specific The Harris Center systems. • Must be well versed with Microsoft office and Excel spreadsheets.
