The System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the IT infrastructure and systems of the organization. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of servers, networks, applications, and end-user devices while supporting compliance with healthcare industry standards, HIPAA, and data privacy requirements. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, software, and hardware to ensure secure and efficient operations. Create, update, and maintain the standard Windows image. Perform imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management of desktops, laptops, and other devices. Develop and maintain strong PowerShell scripts for system administration, automation, and reporting. Design, implement, and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security, compliance, and configuration standards. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control in alignment with HIPAA and company security protocols. Perform regular system updates, security patches, and backups to safeguard data and maintain system integrity. Support EHR, EMR, and other healthcare-specific applications used. Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and leadership teams to ensure technology supports business and patient care needs. Maintain documentation of IT systems, processes, and configurations. Monitor and respond to help desk escalations requiring advanced system administration expertise. Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, and endpoint protection. Support compliance efforts for HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulatory requirements. Participate in IT projects, upgrades, and initiatives to enhance system capabilities. Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field Minimum 35 years of system administration experience, preferably in healthcare environment. Experience with Windows and Linux servers, networking equipment, and cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, O365). Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and healthcare IT workflows preferred. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, wireless). Proven expertise in Group Policy administration. Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, and system administration. Strong experience with Windows imaging and deployment (SCCM, MDT, Intune, or similar tools). Proficiency in Active Directory, Office 365 administration, and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Strong customer service orientation and ability to support both technical and non-technical staff. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment with high attention to detail. Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare data security, and compliance requirements. Working Conditions Full-time, onsite/remote hybrid depending on company policy.
