Identify new opportunities for Data & Analytics solutions by nurturing relationships across the organization. • Clearly communicate the team’s vision and offer consistent messaging that aligns with strategic goals. Prioritize objectives and adopt a holistic approach to solution recommendations, including ROI, implementation plans, and scalability. • Focus on delivering results by efficiently leveraging team talent to achieve commitments. • Guide teams in designing and implementing effective, scalable, and user-friendly platforms and services that address complex business problems. • Oversee cloud cost management and actively optimize budgets through automation and monitoring. Collaborate with leadership to estimate future development costs and track monthly expenditures. • Strive for operational excellence by prioritizing the resolution of major incidents and production issues. Lead teams in root cause analysis to proactively address issues and enhance platform reliability. • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and audit requirements, while promoting data quality and governance. • Inspire and empower teams to excel by fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. Act as a mentor, providing guidance to help associates grow in their roles. • Assess the talent landscape and create development plans to meet future business needs. • Attract and retain highly skilled associates while investing in their development through career planning and mentorship. • Communicate team accomplishments effectively to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership, and provide updates on projects and initiatives. • Build strong relationships with customers and peers to drive strategic initiatives and achieve common goals. • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to recommend cutting-edge technologies that improve customer experience and enhance Data & Analytics platforms. Purpose of the Role: The Senior Technology Manager's primary responsibility is to partner with business areas to deliver technology solutions that support CarMax’s mission. The individual will lead a team of talented engineers in CarMax's technological journey, influence outcomes strategically, guide team performance, and identify high-performing talent within the organization. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. • 8+ years of Data & Analytics experience in an enterprise-level environment, focusing on Data Engineering, Cloud Computing, Systems Engineering, Master Data Management, or related disciplines. • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports. • 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing and supporting data management disciplines, including data platforms and data integration. • 5+ years of experience building enterprise-grade solutions with Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud technologies. • Experience with DevOps, version control systems, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies. • Strong engineering mindset to drive innovation in technology. • Proven ability to strategically prioritize and balance technical excellence with business delivery. • Effective communicator who can articulate complex concepts to a wide range of stakeholders. Data & Analytics Specific Qualifications: • Experience in building cloud-native and SaaS Data & Analytics platforms, preferably within Microsoft Azure. • Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and business intelligence tools like Tableau or Power BI. • Knowledge of Data Orchestration and Observability technologies. • Familiarity with Azure AI services and ML deployment methodologies. Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Technology Hub - Plano, TX or CarMax Technology Innovation Center - Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
