Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to spearhead the development of next-generation IoT devices with seamless cloud integration. This is a fully remote role, allowing top talent to contribute from anywhere in the US. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and testing embedded software and hardware solutions that connect physical devices to robust cloud platforms. This position demands a strong foundation in embedded C/C++, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and expertise in communication protocols relevant to IoT and cloud connectivity. Responsibilities: Design and develop embedded software for microcontrollers and microprocessors, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and security. Integrate embedded systems with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, Google Cloud IoT) using protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, and HTTPS. Develop and maintain firmware updates, device management functionalities, and secure bootloaders. Conduct thorough code reviews, unit testing, and system-level testing to ensure product quality and performance. Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture, select components, and optimize hardware-software co-design. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems, remotely. Contribute to the definition of system requirements and technical specifications for new product development. Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to enhance development processes and product capabilities. Document designs, code, and test procedures clearly and comprehensively. Mentor junior engineers and share expertise within the team. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development. Proven experience with embedded C/C++ programming. Strong knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar. Demonstrated experience with cloud IoT platforms and associated communication protocols (MQTT, CoAP, WebSocket, HTTP/S). Experience with wireless communication technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, Cellular). Familiarity with embedded Linux environments and Yocto build systems is a plus. Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, SWD), oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers. Understanding of security best practices for embedded systems and IoT. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality embedded solutions. Strong communication and collaboration skills, effective in a remote team environment. Must be authorized to work in the US and maintain a reliable remote work setup.
