VAE, Inc. is seeking a Power BI Consultant to lead the design, development, and implementation of a custom dashboard solution that visualizes key metrics from Costpoint (payroll and project modules). The project supports executive leadership with drill-down insights from company-level KPIs to individual employee performance — all accessible on desktop and mobile. The ideal candidate will have experience working with data extracts (Excel/CSV) or APIs from Costpoint and can build the end-to-end pipeline from ingestion through to polished dashboards. JOB TYPE: Full-time LOCATION: VA US (Primary) JOB DESCRIPTION: VAE, Inc. is seeking a Power BI Consultant to lead the design, development, and implementation of a custom dashboard solution that visualizes key metrics from Costpoint (payroll and project modules). The ideal candidate will have experience working with data extracts (Excel/CSV) or APIs from Costpoint and can build the end-to-end pipeline from ingestion through to polished dashboards. Key Objectives • Translate business requirements into interactive Power BI dashboards • Build reports for utilization, labor cost, profitability, overtime, and AR • Set up automated or semi-automated data ingestion (Costpoint → Power BI) • Enable drill-down functionality from company to department to employee level • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and a project manager to iterate and launch the first dashboard within 30 days QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skills & Experience • 3+ years of Power BI development (including DAX, Power Query, Data Modeling) • Strong portfolio or work samples (dashboards with drilldowns, KPIs, dynamic visuals) • Experience working with Costpoint, or similar ERP/payroll systems • Proficient with data pipelines using SharePoint, Excel, or SQL • Ability to create refresh schedules and manage data transformations • Familiarity with Microsoft stack: SharePoint, Dynamics, Excel • Strong communication skills; ability to present dashboards to non-technical leadership • Comfortable working part-time on a flexible, collaborative schedule Nice-to-Have • PL-300 or other Microsoft Power BI certifications • API development or experience building custom data connectors • Experience working with government contracts, utilization, and labor tracking • Experience with Deltek Costpoint APIs or exports CLEARANCE LEVEL: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance Equal Opportunity Employer: We are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers, committed to diversity in the workplace.
