Forge Forward is searching for a Data Scientist to support a client in Charleston, SC. Must have a minimum ten (10) years of data science experience. Candidate must hold an active Secret clearance which requires US citizenship. Those not meeting requirements cannot be considered. The Data Scientist applies advanced analytics, machine learning, and data visualization techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets for C4I and IT systems. Responsible for maintaining best practices for data analysis, providing innovative data modeling solutions to client challenges, and ensuring data products meet client requirements and standards. Role supports mission readiness, operational efficiency, and decision-making by transforming raw data into strategic intelligence in secure and often classified environments. Candidate will have privileged system access and must have CompTIA Security+ certification and ability to meet DoD Cybersecurity Workforce IAT Level II certification with an operating systems certificate (e.g. Linux+). Functional Skills and Responsibilities: • Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured data from C4I systems and operational sources. • Develop and implement machine learning models, predictive analytics, and statistical methodologies to support mission-driven analysis. • Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Python, R, Power BI, or Tableau. • Collaborate with system engineers, cyber analysts, and operational users to define data requirements and integrate analytics into C4I workflows. • Apply Natural Language Processing (NLP), time series analysis, and pattern recognition techniques as needed. • Ensure data handling practices comply with DoD cybersecurity, privacy, and classification policies. • Support the automation of data pipelines, model deployment, and performance monitoring in DevSecOps environments. • Experience building statistical and machine learning models, conducting NLP, and developing automated solutions. • Experience constructing and execute complex database search queries across multiple databases using SQL and API interfaces. • Experience in data science, machine learning, or statistical modeling within DoD, defense, or intelligence domains. • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and use of data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow). • Strong knowledge of data processing, data visualization, and analytical tools. • Experience with cloud platforms and secure data environments. • Experience with data governance, security controls, and compliance requirements in defense settings. • Experience developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets. • Experience developing processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy. • Proficiency with Micorsoft Power Platform (Power Fx, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI). • Understanding of UI/UX design. Required Skills: • Minimum ten (10) years of data science experience. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology Management or related technical field is required. Master's degree preferred. • Relevant industry certifications such as: -Data Science Professional Certificate (IBM) -Professional Data Engineer (Google) -Azure Data Scientist Associate (Microsoft) -CDP Generalist Certification (Cloudera) -Principal Data Scientist (DASCA) -TensorFlow Development Certificate (TensorFlow) -Data Science Certification (SAA) -CompTIA Security+ Certification -Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) • US citizen holding an active Secret clearance with a current SSBI/T5 investigation. TS/SCI desired. Desired Skills: • Experience leading Agile processes, code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers. • Experience with DevSecOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
