Role: SQL Database Administrator (Azure SQL / ETL) Location: Montpelier, VT Position Overview IRG Clients is seeking a highly skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA/SQLDBA) with strong expertise in Azure SQL Database, ETL development using Python in Azure Data Factory, and Azure Blob Storage. This role will support the agency in modernizing its energy data management infrastructure, streamlining data collection, and enabling automated integration with analytics platforms such as Power BI. This position is critical to implementing a centralized, secure, and scalable data management solution that reduces manual processes, integrates data from external sources, and enhances regulatory reporting capabilities. Responsibilities: • Requirements Gathering & Documentation • Database Design & Management • ETL Development & Automation • Integration & Analytics Enablement • Security, Compliance & Optimization • Deployment & Support Required Skills & Experience • 5+ years of professional experience as a SQL Server DBA (Azure SQL strongly preferred). • Proven expertise in Azure SQL Database architecture, performance tuning, and security. • Strong experience with ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory using Python scripting. • Hands-on experience with Azure Blob Storage for large dataset management. • Familiarity with data integration to Power BI and other analytics platforms. • Knowledge of database compliance standards, encryption, and RBAC. • Strong background in query optimization, indexing strategies, and schema design. • Experience with API-driven data integrations (preferred: energy/utilities sector).
