What You'll do: Groundswell is seeking a seasoned Automation Architect & Data Scientist to lead the development of innovative technical solutions across growth initiatives, proposals, and strategic pursuits. As part of our Growth Team, this individual will play a critical role in shaping solutions for high-impact federal programs, combining data science, automation, and architecture expertise to drive mission results and business growth. Key Responsibilities • Serve as a technical lead on internal product teams leveraging automation and AI/ML technologies to solve real-world government challenges. • Lead the design of enterprise-scale solutions across capture and proposal efforts, aligning with customer mission priorities and Groundswell’s core capabilities. • Contribute to the incubation and scaling of Groundswell’s Automation Practice, including establishing best practices, mentoring engineers, and maturing reusable assets. • Partner with internal stakeholders and client teams to define requirements, identify gaps, and craft differentiated solutions. • Research and apply emerging technologies in AI/ML, data analytics, cloud, cybersecurity, agile development, DevSecOps, and digital engineering. • Translate complex technical concepts into compelling written proposal content (RFIs, RFPs, white papers, etc.) and deliver technical presentations to clients and partners. • Provide technical thought leadership to inform corporate investment strategies and roadmap planning. • Collaborate with SMEs and delivery leads to define architecture, implementation approaches, and operational concepts for federal solution delivery. Required Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field. (PhD Preferred) • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years supporting proposals or solutioning for federal contractors. • Strong technical writing capabilities. • Hands-on experience with: • AI/ML platforms and tools (e.g., C3.ai, Palantir, UiPath) • Data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Data lake and analytics technologies (e.g., Databricks) • Familiarity with agile software development, systems and digital engineering, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity. • Proven ability to guide cross-functional and technical teams in designing and implementing innovative, scalable solutions. • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to translate mission needs into technical strategies. • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance. • Location & Travel: Candidates located in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area will be expected to travel approximately 5% of the time.
