Position: Information Technology Specialist III / Linux System Administrator Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. Summary: The Information Technology Specialist III / Linux System Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and support of Linux-based systems that underpin the Indian Health Service's Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS). This role ensures system stability, security, and performance across development, testing, and production environments. Responsibilities • Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, manage file server utilization, track vulnerabilities, and apply patching, etc. • Coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of UNIX and AIX infrastructure hardware/software which support RPMS systems and applications. • Maintain/troubleshoot the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of RPMS systems/applications, networks, and data through the analysis, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. Qualifications • Ability to support Linux and Microsoft operating systems and Linux Servers in virtualized environments. • Expert knowledge of Linux scripting languages used to manage an enterprise operation. • Ability to develop project management documentation. • Ability to work with little or no guidance. Ability to manage and initiate projects. Minimum Qualifications: • A bachelor's degree is preferred; however, an associate degree or a combination of relevant education, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree. • Minimum 5 years of related technical and some managerial experience in supporting information technology environment at the server/data center level. • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiry and Credit (NACIC) background investigation.
