Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer Location: Phoenix, AZ Job Type: [Contract | On-site] Summary We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise infrastructure security systems and services. This role requires a strong technical foundation, the ability to work independently, mentor team members, and partner with IT leadership to execute strategic engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in secure infrastructure design, proactive system maintenance, and documentation, with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement. This position may require occasional travel and the ability to perform service-impacting activities outside standard business hours as part of change management procedures. Key Responsibilities • Plan, design, deploy, and continuously improve infrastructure security systems and processes aligned with business goals. • Deliver on annual OKRs and KPIs related to service availability, capacity, and performance. • Provide Tier 3-level escalation support for incidents, problems, and change management. • Partner with IT Governance to provide audit and compliance support (HIPAA, PCI, SOX, NIST, etc.). • Research and evaluate new security technologies; present solution recommendations. • Participate in complex IT initiatives, including greenfield/brownfield deployments, vendor migrations, and M&A integrations. • Drive standardization across platforms; identify and eliminate unnecessary complexity. • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, and support documentation. • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance of infrastructure security systems. • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing. • Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure/security engineering roles. • Demonstrated ongoing professional development. Certifications (preferred): • Cisco (e.g., CCNP Security) • Palo Alto (e.g., PCNSE) • Microsoft (e.g., MS-500 or AZ-500) Technical Expertise: • Strong experience in security architecture and solution design. • Expertise with next-generation firewalls (NGFW), web application firewalls (WAF). • Experience with Secure Web Gateways (SWG), SASE, and cloud-based security solutions. • Proficient in Network Access Control (NAC) systems. • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Enterprise Key Management (EKM). • Familiarity with Network Security Policy Management (NSPM). • Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS). • Hands-on experience with ITSM tools (preferably ServiceNow) and ITIL frameworks. • Proficiency in diagramming tools like Microsoft Visio and Lucidchart. • Familiar with monitoring and observability platforms (SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, NetBrain, LiveAction, AppDynamics, ELK, etc.). Soft Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational and mentorship abilities. • Ability to collaborate with IT leadership, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders. Bonus: • Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Terraform).
