Departmental Summary: The ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) team within IT is looking for an Application Developer II to join our team. Our primary focus is to create and maintain applications for different business areas at BCBSM. We do this by utilizing applications built using the .Net framework with SQL server. Below are our departmental preferences: • Knowledge of OOPS (Object Oriented Programming Structure) and Agile methodology • Hands on technology experience of designing and developing software applications with Microsoft.NET Framework using C#, ASP.NET • Experience using tools such as Visual Studio.Net • Proficiency in Visual Studio • Hands on experience with SQL Server • Knowledge of Stored Procedures, Triggers, Functions, Views and Database Design • Knowledge of PowerShell development for Windows based migration and automation projects • Create and maintain SSIS packages to Import/Export data from flat files, XML, Excel and Oracle • Experience in software unit testing and efficient at fact-finding, root cause analysis and bug-fixing • Experience in migrating classis ASP applications to ASP.Net and C#, MS Access to SQL Server Work closely with clients, business analysts and team members on small to large, complex projects to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that align with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization’s architectural standards. Provide support in the full systems life cycle for multiple applications to ensure application software is delivered on time and within budget. • Code applications using a disciplined development process. • Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework. • Create data extracts and reports from system based on requirements. • Develop, execute, and document unit test plans. • Support and/or execute all testing efforts across the life cycle. • Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment. Make modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms and version control documents, following procedures, etc. • Validate deployment. • Assist in production support. • Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions. • Provide ongoing maintenance of applications. • Evaluate existing applications and platforms and provides recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications. • Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results. • Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems. • Participate in project planning processes, as needed. • Identify better sources of data feeds and interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility with corporate data warehouse, when needed. Identify technical requirements, as needed. • Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements, as needed. Adhere to standards and procedures; check for compliance. • Review modules for quality assurance. • Evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices and provide recommendations for solutions, as needed. • Prepare and present formal training to IT staff, as needed. • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members. • Other duties may be assigned. " Qualifications " EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. • Three (3) years of advanced programming techniques and application design required. • Experience in systems design and have a solid understanding of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies required.Project management experience preferred.
