Planet Technology has partnered with a Dallas area company to locate a PowerBI Developer for a contract-to-hire role. We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to lead the modernization of legacy reporting and analytics by transitioning existing MicroStrategy assets into a modern Power BI ecosystem. This role combines hands-on dashboard and model development with data engineering and stakeholder collaboration to deliver scalable, high-impact BI solutions. Please notes, candidates must be willing to be onsite in Dallas at least 3 days a week. An In-Person Interview is required. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the end-to-end migration of existing MicroStrategy (MSTR) reports into Power BI, re-imagining them as intuitive dashboards, analytical reports, and paginated exports ready for business distribution. • Evaluate current MSTR data structures, metrics, and business logic to design equivalent—or improved—Power BI solutions that enhance usability and performance. • Build robust semantic data models using best-practice dimensional design (Star and Snowflake schema) to support self-service analytics and enterprise scalability. • Tune report performance and user experience for high-volume data environments handling millions of records. • Develop creative solutions for data exports, custom visuals, and extended Power BI functionality where native tool limitations exist. • Collaborate with technical teams to integrate Power BI with Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure data services for automation and workflow efficiency. • Partner closely with business stakeholders to refine requirements, validate deliverables, and promote adoption through clear documentation and training. • Work with data engineers to align report pipelines with Azure Synapse, Databricks, Lakehouse, and Data Factory environments. • Contribute to agile delivery by participating in sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Maintain thorough documentation of report logic, data transformations, and performance tuning guidelines. Qualifications: • 6+ years of experience developing in Power BI, with advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and data modeling. • Proven experience migrating or re-platforming enterprise reports from MicroStrategy to Power BI. • Strong background handling large datasets and optimizing report performance at scale. • Working knowledge of Power Automate for workflow automation and report distribution. • Familiarity with MicroStrategy’s metadata framework (attributes, metrics, schema objects) is highly desirable. • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Pipelines, Lakehouses), Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Databricks. • Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) for advanced data transformation. • Collaborative, detail-oriented developer who brings innovative problem-solving to team discussions and code reviews. • Excellent communicator with the ability to bridge technical detail and business context. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field preferred. • Interested candidates can apply directly to this posting
