Principal Software Engineer - Storage Network Protocols Remote - United States Principal Software Engineer Storage Network Protocols The Position Nasuni is expanding its first-class engineering organization and looking for a Principal Software Engineer to jointhe Platform team that is responsible for the foundational services, file, network and communication protocols running on the Nasuni Edge Appliance. We're looking for someone who shares our high standards for quality, performance, reliability and user experience. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will. • Participate in requirements analysis, design, design reviews and other work related to expanding Nasuni's Platform and Operating System • Propose, develop, and deliver disruptive features to Nasunis communication protocols, e. g. , NFS, SMB, FTP, SAMBA, and others • Debug and fix bugs reported by customers, support, QA and development • Work with customer support to address escalations and participate in the on-call rotation for production issues and escalations Required skills and experience we look for are. • 8+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems and/or cloud services • Deep understanding of object-oriented design and SDK development, both on-prem and cloud environment • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, multi-threading, I/O paths, Linux operating systems, XFS/EXT filesystems and distributed systems fundamentals. • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems and cloud services fundamentals • Experience with working with technical partners to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable technical requirements and per-component designs. • Written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to all audiences. • Ability to drive projects and the implementation details, including rapid development for proof-of-concept projects. • Ability to mentor other engineers in the team in processes, technologies, and design methodologies. • As a Principal Engineer at Nasuni you should have prior technical team leadership and mentoring experience Highly desired skills. • Development/Troubleshooting experience on storage products • Understanding of filesystems and file server protocols (SMB, NFS, FTP) • Experience working with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems. • Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform • Scripting with Bash/PowerShell • Python/Perl • Use of cryptographic tools/libraries • Windows Active Directory and/or LDAP, Kerberos • Experience with implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines and proficiency in CI/CD tools, such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, or GitLab CI Its an added bonus if you have. • Linux system administration or configuration; System services, Firewall, Iptables • Experience with Samba implementation and active open-source contributions • Networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP • Our Cloud-Native Platform connects to enterprise applications and public storage via Software API's. Having prior API creation and utilization is essential • Experience with and contributions to open-source communities is a plus • PostgreSQL is used as backbone to our system, prior Postgres is helpful • Exposure to Cloud Storage backend integration with AWS or Azure • Knowledge of containerization with Docker and Kubernetes • Modern source control repositories such as Git • Other high-level languages including Golang, Java, or Perl Experience: • BS or MS in computer science or equivalent work experience. • 9+ years previous experience in the industry.
