TITLE: ANALYST III - PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK - CONSUMER LENDING STATUS: EXEMPT REPORTS TO: MGR - PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK - CONSUMER LENDING DEPARTMENT: PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK JOB CODE: 11569 PAY RANGE: $92,300.00 – $110,000.00 ANNUALLY General Description The ANALYST III - CONSUMER LENDING ANALYTICS & RISK is responsible for design, development, implementation and monitoring of data-driven analytics supporting risk/return strategies and ongoing risk management of Golden 1's Consumer Credit products and services to meet member financial needs, enable sustainable growth and optimize economic returns. The individual in this role will take charge of designing and managing internal workflows and processes, enabling our team to maximize efficiency and effectiveness to ensure the financial safety and soundness of Golden 1. As part of the Product Analytics & Risk team, this individual will also be asked to contribute to various product growth and risk initiatives along the entire product lifecycles. Tasks, Duties, Functions • Extract, manipulate, cleanse and organize data using SQL, python and SAS. • Perform ad hoc analyses for development and implementation pertaining to key risk or growth strategies for Golden 1 financial products. • Data storytelling, converting data into usable information to assist the Credit Union in making data driven decisions. • Apply advanced analytical techniques and exercise independent judgment to identify key trends, patterns, and insights, contributing to strategic decision-making processes. • Manage required ad hoc report preparation, analysis, and presentation to management as reference for strategic decisions, committee review and other information requests. • Identify risks to the organization via ongoing monitoring of key metrics and portfolio trends. • Using Excel and PowerPoint, aggregate multiple data sources into a single story to summarize the results of a review into actionable points for Senior Management. • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements for projects, document analysis, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis. • Perform reviews or validations of other analyst’s work prior to, or in lieu of, review by Team Leadership. • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control. • Use Statistical concepts and tools to find causation, patterns, and trends. • Assist with model creation and implementation to improve automation around credit decisions. • Identify opportunities to leverage technology and streamline risk processes, driving automation, efficiency, and improved member experience. • Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to retail financial services products. Ensure that product risk is managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, such as marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to achieve defined outcomes. • Represent credit union in contacts with business and trade associations, members, and regulatory agencies and attend civil functions and otherwise promote the credit union’s image as necessary. Qualifications • EDUCATION: • * Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Information Technology, Economics, or similarly quantitative/analytically focused area) • EXPERIENCE: • * 5+ years of analytics in credit products originations and portfolio risk management experience • 5+ years of banking or credit union experience with knowledge of commonly used credit concepts, practices and procedures • KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: • Technical Skills • Required - Expert knowledge in the following systems/applications: • Expertise in data extraction, manipulation and analysis using SQL, python, SAS, etc. • Microsoft Excel - Formulas, functions, pivot tables, data connections and automation with macros • Preferred knowledge in the following systems/applications: • Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) • * Leadership • Proactively looks for areas of improvement within the business and strives to find solutions • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment • Behavioral: • Self-motivated; can stay focused with minimal oversight • Ownership of their own professional and personal development • Attention to detail; ensures accuracy and thoroughness in work product • Ability to independently prioritize tasks • Makes sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions • Takes initiative to identify, investigate and resolve stakeholder issues, including operational and support situations • Open minded on new tools and methodologies that could be implemented to improve the team or processes • Communication and Interaction • Ability to effectively synthesize analytic results into concise and impactful business cases with clear recommendations • Able to speak in technical and business language and makes complicated information understandable based on the audience • Ability to ask relevant probing questions of co-workers and external stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment with business goals • Confident communicating with all levels of management outside the team, including executive leadership Physical Requirements • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. • Corrected vision within the normal range. • Hearing within normal range. Licenses/Certifications Possession of a valid California driver's license desirable but not essential. Preferred: Data Analytics Certification like: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, Datacamp Analyst Certification, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certification, SQL Certification, or other graduate work in the fields of finance, business intelligence or data analytics.
