About this position: As a Windows System Admin, you will play a critical role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing Windows-based systems within our organization. Your responsibilities will include deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Server environments, monitoring performance, and implementing security measures to safeguard systems and data. You will manage Active Directory, group policies, and user accounts, as well as oversee system updates, backups, and disaster recovery processes. Collaboration with cross-functional IT teams and a proactive approach to system performance and security are essential. Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, scripting for automation, and problem-solving skills are key qualifications for this role. Experience Level: 3-6 years of experience required Salary Range: 75k-110k - Commensurate with the candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications. On a day-to-day basis you will: • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes; review system and application logs, and verify the completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. • Automate daily administrative tasks and address security vulnerabilities in alignment with corporate security guidelines. • Troubleshoot performance issues independently or in collaboration with middleware and database administrators. • Document current, revised, and new processes and procedures. • Research and plan the implementation of upgrades, security patches, and fixes for Windows environments. • Provide proactive support for production and non-production Windows servers, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). • Offer guidance during disaster recovery exercises and resolve issues in application jobs. • Ensure changes adhere to Agile and release management processes. • Identify and resolve advanced issues using scripting or configuration processes. • Stay updated with advances in Windows technology by reviewing technical manuals and reports Required Education/Qualifications: • Security Clearance: Top-Secret security clearance, fully adjudicated. • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE Certification required. • Preferred certifications: • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate • CompTIA Server+ • Education: Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience/combined education. • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Server platforms (2016, 2019, or later). • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain environments. • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation. • Understanding of system backups, recovery tools, and disaster recovery processes. • Familiarity with patch management tools like WSUS or SCCM. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Self-driven, customer-focused, and detail-oriented. Preferred Qualifications: • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS. • Understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls. • Experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for automation. • Knowledge of virtualization platforms like VMware or Hyper-V. • Familiarity with database management systems such as SQL Server.
