We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Data Estate Developers to support the design, development, and optimization of enterprise data solutions that enable advanced analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the VA’s financial and operational landscape. This role will focus on data engineering, BI development, and data model optimization within the VA’s evolving Data Estate environment, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and secure data delivery to business stakeholders. Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data models, and BI solutions within the VA’s Data Estate environment using Microsoft Power BI. • Develop and optimize ETL processes to support reporting, analytics, and system integrations. • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions. • Implement data quality checks, error handling, and performance tuning to ensure system efficiency and data integrity. • Support the migration and transformation of legacy datasets into the modern VA Data Estate environment. • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and solution design documents. • Provide production support and troubleshooting for data-related issues and user queries. Qualifications Required: • (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience. • Experience in data engineering, BI development, or database development. • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Factory. • Proven ability to design and implement ETL processes, data models, and data pipelines. • Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for report and dashboard development. • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation. • Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality best practices. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a large, matrixed federal program environment. Desired • Experience supporting federal government financial or operational data environments. • Familiarity with Momentum Financials or similar ERP systems. • Experience with Azure DevOps, Data Lake, and DataBricks. • Knowledge of data warehousing principles and cloud data architecture. • Understanding of federal reporting and compliance requirements. • Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration.
