Overview We are seeking an experienced and creative Power BI Visualizations Designer and Developer with strong business and data analysis skills. This role will be responsible for creating, owning, and maintaining reports and dashboards that quantify and measure compute capacity for AI research, integrating project information from multiple systems. The reports will draw from diverse data sources including SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure Log Analytics Workspace, and SharePoint, and will cover a large dataset maintained over a rolling 5-year period. The target audience includes mid and senior-level management, so a polished and professional presentation is essential. This position requires adaptability to evolving requirements and the ability to work independently in a dynamic research environment. A significant ramp-up period is expected to understand existing reports, data connections, and AI infrastructure capacity concepts. Must be on-site at least 3 days per week. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to support AI infrastructure capacity planning. • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into effective data visualizations. • Analyze large and complex datasets from multiple sources (e.g., SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Log Analytics, SharePoint) to extract actionable insights. • Maintain and enhance existing Power BI reports, ensuring consistency in design and data accuracy. • Apply data visualization best practices and implement theming/templates for a unified look across reports. • Troubleshoot data connectivity and refresh issues across Power BI workspaces. • Document data models, report logic, and visualization standards for team reference and onboarding. • Participate in testing and deployment processes across dev/test/prod environments. • Present findings and dashboard walkthroughs to mid and senior-level management. • Stay current with Power BI updates and recommend improvements to reporting workflows. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities • Experience importing and querying data, modeling it, and creating reports/dashboards for Power BI Premium workspaces. • Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate them into actionable visual insights. • Expertise in designing coherent data models and dashboards. • Strong understanding of design principles, user experience, and interface usability. • Familiarity with Power BI theming and template mechanisms for consistent report styling. • Ability to create, import, and edit JSON themes for Power BI. • Strong critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills. • Proficiency in DAX, SQL, and Kusto Query Language. • Understanding of change control, release management, and testing processes. • Familiarity with Azure Storage, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factories. • Must provide a sample dashboard report (can be anonymized or based on sample data). • Experience with dev/test/prod deployment pipelines and adherence to testing protocols. Compensation range for position is $ 121,500 – 135,000 DOE.
