Job Title: Azure Cloud Engineer Location: Richmond, Virginia Duration: Long-term opportunity About the Role: • We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join a government data and analytics program in Richmond, VA. • This role will focus on building and maintaining secure, scalable Azure-based solutions that support advanced data sharing, governance, and reporting. • The successful candidate will have strong expertise in Azure networking, data services, and analytics, with hands-on experience delivering end-to-end solutions in the cloud. Key Responsibilities: • Design, configure, and manage Azure networking components including private networks, DNS, firewall rules, subnets, VPNs, NSGs, and load balancers. • Develop and support Azure DevOps pipelines for deploying and managing cloud resources and data solutions. • Build and optimize data solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics (ETL engine, Data Warehouse, and pipelines). • Manage and secure Azure SQL databases and storage accounts. • Integrate and support Power BI dashboards and reporting for business stakeholders. • Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and analysts to deliver secure and scalable data solutions. • Provide documentation, architecture diagrams, and technical recommendations to support solution delivery. • Stay current on new Azure services and best practices to continuously improve cloud operations. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience. • Proven hands-on experience with Azure networking (private networking, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, NSGs, Load Balancers). • Strong background in Azure DevOps pipelines for automation and deployment. • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics (ETL, Data Warehouse, pipelines). • Proficiency with Azure SQL databases and storage accounts. • Experience in building and integrating Power BI solutions with Azure data sources. • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills. • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams Preferred/Nice to have Qualifications: • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-305). • Experience with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell). • Background in large-scale data or analytics projects.
