We are looking for Senior Managers to lead our DevOps Engineers in a transformative journey at Capital One. The Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division is essential in evolving our foundational cloud infrastructure, focusing on observability, connectivity, resilience, and availability. This position will oversee the overnight operations of our Technology Operations Center (TOC), ensuring continuous resilience and service continuity for our critical enterprise systems. TOC acts as the central hub for key initiatives such as Infrastructure and Application Monitoring, Incident Management and Response, Cybersecurity Operations, all while leveraging AI and automated solutions for Operational Excellence and Resilience Engineering impacting the entire Enterprise. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of technology projects alongside a talented team specializing in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full stack systems. • Foster a culture of innovation by staying abreast of tech trends, experimenting with new technologies, and mentoring peers in the engineering community. Occasionally, you might also engage in coding or code evaluations. • Collaborate closely with product managers to develop robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys. • Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Ruby, and Go, along with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, and configuration management tools including Ansible and Terraform, while tapping into a variety of AWS tools and services. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree. • 6+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience not applicable). • 4+ years of experience with Cloud Native technologies like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. • 6+ years of Unix or Linux system administration experience. • 4+ years in a people management role. Preferred Qualifications: • 9+ years of overall experience in DevOps Engineering. • 6+ years of programming and scripting experience (Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, or Ruby). • 4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery. • 3+ years working with monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk or Zabbix). • 3+ years of experience with container orchestration services (e.g., Docker or Kubernetes). • 3+ years working with Agile Development Practices. This role is based in McLean, VA and is eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
