Responsibilities As a Principal Software Engineering Manager, you will lead, mentor, coach, and grow a team of diverse, talented engineers who are versed in delivering world-class services in high pressure situations. You will work closely with other engineering and research teams to ensure services & systems are highly stable and performant and meet the expectations of internal and external customers. You will lead our engineering team responsible for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint in Sovereign Clouds. This role requires a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast paced, highly technical , constantly evolving environment. The ideal candidate will have a customer focus with a deep understanding of cloud design principles. Due to the increasing prevalence of cyber-threats & attacks, you will be required to provide technical leadership and nurture a learn-it-all, curious, data-driven culture in a fast-paced high-pressure environment . Embody our Culture and Values Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience • 5 + years of a mix of coding/testing/Integration experience - C#, Python or another equivalent • 5 + years of leadership experience managing a team with proven ability to nurture and grow talent/first line managers. • 5 + years of experience managing highly scalable services. • Experience with live site support and on-call models and participate in a 24x7 live site support model as Incident Manager Other Qualifications • Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination. • Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment. • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance Preferred Qualifications • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. • 4+ years people management experience • Experience with Kubernetes, and the Kubernetes satellite technologies • Demostrated profeiency in at least one scripting language but knows when to move solutions into managed code • Experince Spark, Data Lake or big data platform pipeline development (Ex. Azure Data Factory, Data Explorer/Kusto, Data Bricks, Spark) • Experience in Azure DevOps and GitHub tooling • Experience in Data mining or data science experiences utilizing Big Data and\or relational database technologies • Experience in Development experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
