The Systems Administrator V performs advanced and highly specialized systems administration work. This includes the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of enterprise systems with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and compliance. This role is responsible for managing infrastructure services, cloud integrations, and system lifecycle processes. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead large-scale deployments, enforce policy-compliant practices, and drive continuous improvement efforts. Examples of Work Performed: • Coordinates and oversees the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise servers, operating systems, and applications. • Leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis of high-impact hardware, software, and networking issues. • Implements and enforces system security controls in accordance with NIST and Texas Cybersecurity Framework standards. • Develops, revises, and maintains system administration documentation, including SOPs, configuration baselines, and disaster recovery procedures. • Evaluates and implements cloud migration strategies and hybrid infrastructure solutions. • Analyzes system performance metrics and supports capacity planning. • Configures and manages role-based access control (RBAC), group policy, and conditional access policies. • Provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators. • Supports regulatory and audit compliance efforts, including data retention, incident tracking, and change management. • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to define business requirements for new system deployments or enhancements. • Performs other duties as assigned.
