One of our clients in the government domain is seeking a highly experienced WebSphere and System Integration Administrator with deep expertise in WebSphere Application Server and cloud system administration across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. This position plays a critical role in managing enterprise middleware platforms, supporting CI/CD pipelines, leading integration efforts, and ensuring system stability in both cloud and on-prem environments. Location: Remote (In-person interviews required in Columbus, Ohio) Duration: Long-term Contract Work Hours: 8–10 hours/day, Monday–Friday (Core hours: 7 AM–6 PM EST) On-call Rotation: Participation required This is a remote opportunity, but selected candidates must be available for in-person interviews in Columbus, Ohio, and willing to participate in an on-call support rotation. Responsibilities: Technical Administration & Integration • Perform WebSphere upgrades, patches, and apply security fixes • Set up and administer RabbitMQ and MuleSoft platforms • Install, configure, and deploy WebSphere servers on AIX/Linux platforms • Work with web servers including Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and IIS • Manage and secure SSL certificates for secure communications • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot middleware issues, and implement solutions • Manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters, ensuring proper configuration, automation, and pipeline support • Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to support and maintain production environments • Ensure high-availability, disaster recovery readiness, and both vertical/horizontal scaling strategies Cloud Management & Deployment • Deploy and manage applications across on-premise and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) • Recommend and implement infrastructure solutions in coordination with cloud vendors • Hands-on experience with containers, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture • Manage hybrid cloud environments with a focus on security and performance • Technical Leadership & Consulting • Provide guidance and technical consultation for IT and business teams • Lead discussions and provide input on emerging technologies and enterprise integration strategies • Advise on API security, policy enforcement, and identity management (SSO, tokenization) • Conduct technical audits, risk assessments, and root cause analysis • Champion the adoption of best practices in automation, quality standards, and secure middleware configuration Required Skills: • WebSphere Application Server • RabbitMQ • MuleSoft • Unix/Linux system administration • Networking (IP subnetting, firewall configuration, load balancing, SSO, etc.) • Deep understanding of Enterprise application integration and architecture • Network design for application deployment and secure communication Familiarity with: • Monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace) • CI/CD tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Nexus) • Application security practices • Web services, JSON/SOAP APIs, and data transformation • Storage subsystems, backup, and recovery strategies Minimum Required Experience • 12+ years of total IT experience • 8+ years in WebSphere administration • 3+ years in RabbitMQ administration • 2+ years in MuleSoft administration • 2+ years in Red Hat OpenShift administration • 2+ years of cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) • 3+ years managing application security products • 3+ years working with government agencies • 5+ years providing senior-level technical consulting to IT leadership • 3+ years advising teams on the adoption of emerging technologies Preferred Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Or equivalent combination of technical training and experience)
