Purpose Provide supervisory or advanced-level computer desktop user support and services. Responsibilities • Provide support and be a Deployment SME on ad hoc projects and other related duties. • Be lead for the deployment team and provide Tier 3 support to other deployment and desktop specialists. Manage and delegate tasks to student employees while maintaining ownership of the deployment process from beginning to end. • Maintain bulk order stock to ensure there is adequate hardware available for the instructional/deans office staff to continue business. Quote and assist in the purchasing of new computers and peripherals. • Recommend and implement desktop computing policies specific to each research area and ensure adherence to security policies and procedures. Evaluate new products and emerging technologies for their suitability within the framework of the current computing infrastructure. Provide 1-1 hardware consultations with lab PIs within CNS to address hardware needs. • Respond to requests via phone, email, or ticketing system and problems. Install, monitor, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade user and lab computer and printer hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. Recover data from disk and system. Provide users with updates and maintain internal notes throughout the deployment process. • Train, assist, and advise the research faculty and staff in the safe use of computing systems on the network to reduce the vulnerabilities identified after poor user administration of the system; and provide any technical training to research space tenants that falls within the scope of best practices. Provide advanced hardware support to research environments. • Other related responsibilities and functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Two years of experience in an IT technical support position providing hands on troubleshooting support of computing hardware. Knowledge of computer and peripheral operations, installation, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of device/endpoint management tools or technologies. Basic understanding of network technologies and topologies. Knowledge of directory services and remote access tools. Demonstrated experience providing full support for Apple/Windows hardware and software. Ability to keep up with new technologies that are applicable to the needs of the College. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate via oral and written methods. Experience managing tasks via a ticketing system. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher. Three years' experience in a higher education IT Support setting. Proficient in Apple/Windows products including mobile devices. Linux support experience. Apple certified. Microsoft Windows and Office certified. A+ Certified. Two years of networking experience. Strong understanding of deployment methodologies and best practices. Familiarity with University-level desktop security requirements. Knowledge of University environments and available IT resources. Ability to work on multi-project timelines. Certification in ITIL. Salary Range $55,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions.
