Job Description: Affinity is seeking an MQ Administrator (Application Support Engineer) on behalf of our financial client based in Kansas City, Missouri. This organization drives innovation by supporting key banking applications and infrastructure across diverse platforms in a hybrid environment. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting critical middleware technologies, such as IBM MQ and IIB/ACE, while contributing to a culture that values continuous learning, agile practices, and operational excellence. Top 3 Skills: 1) IBM MQ Experience 2) AIX Experience 3) Linux Experience Essential Functions • Provide administration and support of key applications across multiple platforms • Provide day-to-day support and monitoring of servers and applications • Provide after-hours support if necessary • Manage incidents according to IT policy and procedure • Manage manufacturer application upgrade lifecycle and keep all environments on supported versions • Collaborate cross-functionally with business users, project managers, application managers, infrastructure teams and other engineers to achieve product and team goals • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement • Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required • Proficient in administering IBM MQ Series environments and IIB/Broker/ACE environments • Proficient in AIX and Linux environments • Proficient in UNIX environment and shell scripting (KornShell/PowerShell) • Proficient understanding of Network Environments • Ability to understand modern technology and to have a technical conversation about an issue, request or recommendation • Proficient with DevOps tools and processes • Desire and ability to mentor, share skills, knowledge, and expertise • Renewing and installing certificates required, ciphers ae a plus • Strong analytical, problem solving, and live environment troubleshooting skills • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment utilizing Agile • Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles, and solutions • Demonstrates dependability and commitment to projects and tasks via initiative, ownership, and availability • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook Affinity Earn: Know someone who’s great for this, or any of our open roles?
