Description Leidos is looking for a talented Databricks Data Engineering Specialist to innovate and support cutting-edge data pipelines and analytics environments within an Azure cloud-based data lake. In this role, you will harness your expertise to turn business requirements into effective data solutions that power an enterprise-level Microsoft Azure analytics platform. You'll play a key role in maintaining ETL operations and crafting new data pipelines, ensuring top-notch data quality and management. The perfect candidate should have a strong background in Databricks, a solid grasp of advanced AI technologies, and a knack for critical thinking to solve technical challenges through collaboration with cross-functional teams. In this role, you will: • Design, build, and enhance scalable data solutions using Databricks and Medallion Architecture. • Efficiently manage ingestion routines for processing multi-terabyte datasets across multiple projects, each potentially utilizing various Databricks workspaces. • Integrate structured and unstructured data sources to derive high-quality business insights, utilizing advanced data analysis techniques. • Implement robust data management strategies to ensure integrity, availability, and accessibility of data, while seeking cost optimization opportunities in storage, processing, and analytics. • Monitor and support user requests, troubleshoot platform or performance issues, maintain cluster stability, and optimize Spark configurations. • Collaborate with teams to facilitate advanced AI-driven analytics and data science workflows. • Integrate with a range of Azure services such as Azure Functions, Storage Services, Data Factory, Log Analytics, and User Management for smooth data operations. Familiarity with these Azure services is advantageous. Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for infrastructure provisioning and management. • Adopt best practices for data security, governance, and compliance, aligning with federal regulations and public trust standards. • Proactively engage with both technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective data solutions. For this position, you must possess: • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. • 3+ years of experience developing and designing ingestion flows for structured, streaming, and unstructured data utilizing cloud platform services with a focus on data quality. • Databricks Data Engineer certification along with 2+ years of experience in maintaining the Databricks platform and developing in Spark. • The ability to interact with clients and provide first-line support for incoming requests, clearly documenting solutions through architecture and interface diagrams. • Proficiency in Python, Spark, and R is essential; .NET development experience is a plus. • Solid understanding of data governance, including metadata management, enterprise data cataloging, data quality controls, and data security measures. • Experience with Agile methodologies, CI/CD automation, and cloud-based development (Azure, AWS). • U.S. citizenship with the ability to successfully obtain government-issued Public Trust clearance. While not required, additional education, certifications, or experience in the following will be considered a plus: • Certifications in Azure cloud services. • Knowledge of FinOps principles and strategies for cost management.
