JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description Hospital client is seeking someone who can assist them with Hospital Patient Accounting in AthenaIDX. More tickets have arisen due to implementation and this is an urgent requirement. Position Summary The Senior Analyst – Athena IDX Hospital Patient Accounting (HPA) plays a vital role in supporting and optimizing all aspects of the Hospital Patient Accounting system, including charge entry, billing, edits, claims, statements, and reimbursement processes within the athena IDX platform (formerly GE Centricity Business). This role involves advanced configuration and support for key modules such as HPA, ETM, TES, and PPS. The analyst works collaboratively with patient accounting, finance, financial counselors, coding, IT, and operational teams to ensure efficient charge capture, claims scrubbing, statement production, and follow-up activities. Key Responsibilities System Configuration & Optimization • Troubleshoot and resolve HPA-related issues. • Configure and test ETM workflows for Holdbills, TES Edits, PPS Edits, Claim Scrub Edits, Claim Edits, Rejections, No Activity, and Self-Pay Follow-Up. • Support integration between HPA and systems such as 3M, Cirius, EDI 835/277CA, RevSpring, and other enterprise platforms. • Monitor system performance to ensure high first-pass claim rates, reduced manual processing, and minimized claim denials. Specialized Workflow Expertise • Optimize ETM workflows across all HPA ETM views. • Demonstrate deep knowledge of HPA core functionality including holdbills, profiles, proration, claims and statement processing, and collections. • Maintain and enhance integrations with 3M and Cirius for grouping and contractual adjustments. • Automate follow-up for 835/277CA rejections, late payments, take-backs, and stalled claims. • Sequence HPA workflows logically to maintain system integrity and performance. Required Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with athena IDX HPA, including TES, ETM, PPS, and Optum Claims Scrub. • Proven success in revenue cycle optimization, denial management, and claims/statement processing. • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. • Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Finance, Business, IT, or a related field. • Recent experience with athena IDX implementation, optimization, or CBO/HPA upgrades. • Experience in academic medical centers or complex healthcare environments.
