We are seeking a skilled Power BI Analyst/Developer to enhance our data visualization and reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate will combine analytical expertise with development skills to create, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards and reports. This role requires a strong understanding of business intelligence, data analysis, and the ability to design user-friendly, interactive dashboards while managing the technical aspects of data integration and optimization. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable Power BI dashboards and reports. • Design and develop interactive dashboards that provide actionable insights and improve decision-making. • Enhance existing dashboards to improve usability, interactivity, and performance. • Develop data models and write SQL queries to integrate, transform, and prepare data for reporting. • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure dashboards meet business needs and provide value. • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data visualizations and reports. • Stay updated on Power BI updates and features to continuously improve reporting solutions. Skills Required • Strong experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and report creation. • Proficiency in SQL for querying and transforming data. • Demonstrated ability to design visually appealing and functional dashboards. • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data accuracy and insight generation. • Familiarity with integrating various data sources into Power BI. • Excellent communication skills for presenting data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Skills Preferred • Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and user experience design. • Experience with advanced Power BI features like bookmarks, tooltips, and custom visuals. • Familiarity with Azure Data Services or other cloud-based data solutions. • Basic understanding of statistical analysis or machine learning concepts. • Ability to write documentation for dashboards and data processes. Experience Required • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Power BI in a professional setting. • Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining dashboards for business use. Experience Preferred • Experience in a similar role in the government sector or large organizations. • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including IT and business stakeholders. Education Required • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience. Education Preferred • Certifications in Power BI, SQL, or related tools (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate). Additional Information • This is not a state merit position. However, the Hiring Manager will be potentially looking to convert this person to full time internally to the dept. (Contract to Hire role). • This Dept. does not provide sponsorship. • The contract period is expected to be 3-6 months before converting to full time. • During interviews, we will be providing a shared screening test of their abilities.
