The Role: OWL Services is seeking a senior-level IT Network Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. In this hands-on technical role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining IT networks across both cloud-based and on-premises environments. You will play a key role in ensuring our network infrastructure is secure, reliable, and scalable to meet the needs of a growing business, as well as guiding and supporting other members of the IT Infrastructure team in their professional development. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both cloud and physical data center technologies, troubleshooting complex challenges, and continuously improving modern IT environments. Responsibilities: Essential duties include but are not limited to the following: • Manage and support physical and virtual datacenter networks, including routers, firewalls, switches, load balancers, and wireless access points. • Ensure network security and reliability through VLAN segmentation, port security, Wi-Fi and VPN standardization, password management, and timely firmware and client updates. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network and system issues across cloud-based and on-premises environments to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity. • Support infrastructure modernization efforts by helping migrate legacy systems to cloud-first, hybrid, or colocation solutions. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration standards, and device inventories. • Collaborate with IT leadership, Applications, Operations, and external partners to ensure network design aligns with business objectives and compliance standards. • Plan and execute network projects—balancing multiple priorities and ensuring timely, successful delivery. • Stay current on emerging networking and infrastructure technologies, recommending improvements to enhance scalability, performance, and cost efficiency. • Assist with the support and maintenance of virtualization platforms such as VMware and Azure. • Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) planning, testing, and response activities. • Provide cross-functional support for configuration management, vendor coordination, and infrastructure operations during peak periods or team absences. • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives by assisting with penetration testing, reviewing findings, and implementing remediation steps to strengthen network security posture. Requirements and Skills • 5–7 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and other networking protocols. • Experience configuring VPNs, VLANs, load balancers, network segmentation, and optimizing network performance. • Strong expertise in managing both on-premises and cloud-based network environments, including firewalls, switches, and routers (Fortinet experience preferred). • Solid understanding of network security best practices and experience supporting secure architectures such as Zero Trust, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver tasks and projects, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and implement effective solutions. • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to challenges and implement workarounds without constant supervision. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. • Familiarity with identity and access management platforms such as Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Intune, and Okta preferred. • Familiarity with VMware, Azure, storage systems, and scripting/automation using PowerShell or similar languages is a plus. • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) is also a plus.
