We’re helping state agencies modernize their data infrastructure with Azure-native platforms that are scalable, secure, and future-proof. 🔹 The Opportunity We are seeking an MDM & Microsoft Purview Architect to lead the strategy, implementation, and integration of enterprise metadata governance, data lineage, and MDM best practices across Azure and hybrid ecosystems. This role blends architecture, data governance, and Azure-native engineering to bring visibility, trust, and control to complex data landscapes. This is a full-time, remote or hybrid role open to U.S. citizens living in the US only. 🔹 Key Responsibilities ✅ Design and lead the enterprise metadata and data governance strategy using Microsoft Purview. ✅ Integrate Purview with Azure-native and external systems (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory, Tableau, MDM tools). ✅ Define and enforce metadata standards, data dictionary, classification policies, and lineage tracking. ✅ Implement Purview scanning, lineage capture, and classification for structured and unstructured data. ✅ Integrate Purview with business glossary, report catalogs, and sensitivity labeling. ✅ Architect support for golden record governance and MDM stewardship workflows. ✅ Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Analytics teams to align data governance with pipelines, RBAC, and audit needs. ✅ Mentor data stewards, analysts, and engineers on Purview and governance practices. ✅ Design and implement data pipelines (ADF, Synapse, Databricks, etc.) that emit metadata and lineage for ingestion into Microsoft Purview. ✅ Ensure end-to-end lineage tracking from source systems to reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) via orchestration pipelines. ✅ Work with engineering teams to align transformation logic, mapping, and orchestration with Purview lineage capture standards. ✅ Implement automated metadata harvesting for custom pipelines using REST API, Purview SDK, or integration runtimes. 🔹 Required Skills & Experience 🌐 Microsoft Purview • Data Map & Collection Design • Source Scanning Configuration (SQL, Synapse, ADLS, Power BI, Tableau) • Business Glossary & Metadata Curation • Data Classification (built-in and custom) • Data Lineage Configuration & Debugging, • Sensitivity Labeling and MIP Integration • Role & Policy Management (Data Reader, Data Curator, Collection Admin) ☁️ Azure Data & Integration Tools • Azure Data Lake Gen2 / Blob Storage • Azure Data Factory / Synapse Pipelines • Azure SQL / Azure Synapse Analytics • Azure Key Vault, Private Endpoints, VNETs • Azure Monitor / Log Analytics (KQL basics) • Azure RBAC, Entra ID, and Access Controls 🔁 MDM & Stewardship • Understanding of Master Data Management processes and tools like (Profisee, Reltio, Semarchy, CluedIn) • Data domain modeling and entity management • Stewardship workflows and issue resolution governance • Golden record tracking and auditability 📊 BI & Metadata Integration • Integration with Tableau and/or Power BI • Report cataloging and lineage from source to dashboard • Understanding of semantic layers and federated data models 🛠️ DevOps & Automation • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, or ARM Templates) • REST APIs or Purview SDK scripting for metadata automation • CI/CD pipeline integration with data governance checks 🔹 Preferred Qualifications • 7 years in data architecture or enterprise data platforms • 3 years implementing Purview, Informatica EDC, Collibra, or similar tools • Experience in public sector or healthcare highly desirable • Microsoft Azure Certifications (Data Engineer, Security Engineer, Solutions Architect) • Excellent documentation, and cross-team communication •
