BI Developer – Power BI & Cognos Migration (Remote) We are seeking an experienced BI Developer with expertise in both Power BI and Cognos/ReportNet to support a healthcare-focused project. This is a contract opportunity with a leading consulting partner, supporting one of their enterprise clients. The role is 100% remote and requires an independent developer who can take ownership of migrating existing Cognos/ReportNet dashboards into modern Power BI solutions. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, semantic models, dataflows, and reports. • Configure and manage the Power BI Gateway to ensure secure connectivity and scheduled refreshes from enterprise data sources. • Lead efforts to migrate reporting solutions from Cognos/ReportNet to Power BI, improving performance, usability, and scalability. • Work closely with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into intuitive BI solutions. • Validate and optimize reporting deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and performance. • Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and best practices to support long-term adoption and governance. Required Skills • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, including: • Power BI Dataflows • Semantic model development • Dashboard and report design • Power BI Gateway setup and administration • Strong background in Cognos and ReportNet report development. • Hands-on experience migrating dashboards/reports from Cognos/ReportNet to Power BI. • Proficiency with SQL and enterprise data platforms (Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure). • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and interact directly with stakeholders. Preferred Skills • Healthcare or life sciences reporting experience. • Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and HIPAA/PHI standards. • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, Snowflake).
