Projected Date: • Immediate (9/28/2025) Work Location: • NAVAIR PMA-290 - Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD (Lexington Park, MD) Required Certifications or Education: • Security + CE Certification is required within 6 months and must be maintained Preferred (but not required) Certifications or Education: • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or related IT specialization Attributes (Required): • US DoD TS Clearance, SSBI/SBPR/PPR (within 5 years), with the ability to obtain and maintain CI Poly • 5+ years experience with planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links • 5+ Years Experience with VLANs / Switches / Trunks • 5+ Years Experience with Routers & WAN Networking • 5+ Years Experience with firewalls & ACLs (Access Control Lists) • 5+ years experience Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems • Proficient in the following software packages: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and others Attributes (Preferred): • US DoD TS Clearance, SSBI/SBPR/PPR, with current CI Poly • 5+ years experience with Juniper Networks • 10+ years experience with planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links • 10+ Years Experience with VLANs / Switches / Trunks • 10+ Years Experience with Routers & WAN Networking • 10+ Years Experience with firewalls & ACLs (Access Control Lists) • 10+ years experience Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems • 10+ years experience with military platforms' network and system administration Deployable: • Not required, but possible dependent on operational needs. Travel: • CONUS travel possibly required up to 7 days per quarter (< 10-15%) Job Description: • Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure in Special Mission Aircraft, ground mission support facilities and laboratories and ensuring that the network is up and running properly and secure from outside threats. The network administrator must deeply understand network protocols and architecture to effectively manage the network. • Must be able to troubleshoot network problems and have the skills to resolve them quickly. Requires a strong understanding of the network and how it functions. Must be able to identify the root cause of the problem and take steps to resolve it. • Must be able to communicate effectively with users and other Special Mission Aircraft technicians and staff to resolve network issues. Includes being able to explain technical concepts in layman's terms and able to provide clear instructions on how to resolve problems. • Must have the ability to create and maintain documentation for the network. Must also be able to create network diagrams that illustrate the network's architecture. • Must have the ability to plan and implement network upgrades and expansion projects. Must also be able to create project plans and task flows for the project. • Must be able to monitor network performance and identify potential bottlenecks. Requires a strong understanding of network monitoring tools and how to interpret the data they provide. Must be able to identify when the network is underperforming and take steps to resolve the issue. • Must be able to work with military, government and commercial technicians to resolve hardware and software issues. This includes opening and managing support tickets and working with platform technicians to resolve problems. • Must be able to train users on the use of network resources. Must also be able to answer questions from users and help them resolve problems. • Must be able to provide technical support for network users. This includes troubleshooting complex problems and providing detailed instructions on how to resolve them. • Must work effectively in a team environment and able to communicate well with other members of the team and able to collaborate on projects. Must also be able to take direction and work independently when necessary.
